Licensure Supervision for LMSWs in Missouri and Texas

Supervision that builds clinical skill and a sustainable career. In person in St. Louis, and virtual across Missouri and Texas.

I help new clinicians build real clinical skills while protecting their well-being.

My supervision style is very similar to my therapy style. I value the social and cultural context you and your clients live in, and how it intersects with gender and other systems of power. I believe the relationship is at the center of the work, so I model that relationship in supervision. Work relationships are a great place for parallel processing, where you practice the interventions you use with your clients. We don’t get into personal things, because I’m not your therapist!

As your licensure supervisor, I also evaluate your competence and verify your hours. I will always be clear with you about where you stand.

The supervision hour and what to expect

The supervision hour

Here is a general outline. I prefer that you send your agenda and questions ahead of time.

  • 5 minutes: check-in

  • 50 minutes: work on any of the following: ethics; case review and documentation; theory and book discussions; self of the therapist; site logistics; navigating professional relationships; showing up authentically and professionally as a social worker; test prep

  • 5 minutes: check-out, including homework tasks we decide on together based on the session

What to expect over licensure

Licensure requires 3,000 supervised hours over at least 24 months, and your own timeline depends on the hours you work. Supervision is one hour a week. When enough supervisees are enrolled in your state, we alternate individual and group sessions. The timeline below is a rough guide to topics, not a fixed schedule.

Who this is for, format, and fees

Who this is for

My goal is to supervise highly motivated provisionally licensed social workers who want more than the basics of clinical social work. You want to learn how to blend practical skills and depth work with your clients. I value creating a sustainable life while being of service to the community.

This may not be the right fit if you are looking for minimum-hours-only supervision or a purely administrative supervisor.

My background

I have worked in case management for Children’s Division, crisis hotlines, community mental health, university counseling services, and private practice. I’ve had a variety of supervisors who taught me a lot about what it means to be a social worker, and I want to keep mentoring social workers who show up authentically and set supportive boundaries around their work. Social workers are so needed, but burnout is real. I want you to learn early what appropriate boundaries, community, and self-care look like.

Format

  • In person in St. Louis, Missouri, and virtual for the rest of Missouri and for Texas. Virtual sessions use secure video.

  • One hour a week. When enough supervisees are enrolled in your state, we alternate individual and group sessions, with groups of up to 3. Until then, your sessions are individual.

  • Individual sessions are at the same time each week.

Fees

Supervision is an investment of time and money. To increase access, I have two fee tiers. The lower tier is for supervisees employed in community mental health or nonprofit settings. If you think you should qualify, tell me on our call and we can talk it through.

Individual session

Group session (per person)

Private practice

$125

$75

Community mental health

$100

$60

  • Fees are collected every other week.

  • Some employers reimburse supervision, and I can provide itemized invoices.

  • Cancellations need 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations are not refunded, but you can reschedule within the same week. If I cancel, I’ll reschedule with you. Full terms are in the supervision agreement.

How to Start

We talk through your goals, state, and setting, and decide together whether it’s a fit.

If it is, I send the supervision agreement and the paperwork for your state, and we set your weekly time.

F.A.Q

u

Why use an outside supervisor instead of my agency's?

Your agency’s supervisor handles job-related supervision. Licensure supervision is a separate role, and many agency supervisors don’t hold the supervisor credential or have the time for it. An outside supervisor adds a second perspective on your professional development, helping you balance what you see day to day with a wider view of ethical, sustainable practice.

u

Does my employer need to approve outside supervision?

Yes, in most cases. Texas requires written approval from your employer when you contract for supervision, and Missouri expects an agreement with your agency when your supervisor isn’t on staff. I’ll help you with the wording and the paperwork.

u

Is EMDR consultation included?

No. EMDR consultation is a separate service for clinicians who have completed their basic training. In supervision, I’m happy to explain what EMDR is and to talk through EMDR-informed cases, but it is separate from licensure supervision.
